Hey all!

This polish was such a surprise to me! I really didn't expect it to be as pretty as it was, a slightly dusky purple base packed with a blue/purple shimmer. I used this as undies for my Sayuri Psychadelia swatch.

Hey All!

BSOD is the polish that really put Pretty Serious on the map when they launched their first line, everyone went bonkers for it and for good reason! It is a relatively simple polish, but wow is it amazing! Due to this polishes popularity, Pretty Serious has also made 3 other versions, Purple Monkey Dishwasher (purple), Grimm Demise (teal) and Cybernetic (purple/green).

BSOD has a beautiful blue jelly base, that is packed with blue glitter and opaque in 3 coats. You can see a bit of VNL in the photos, but that is only due to the flash, you cannot see it in everyday situations.

Hey all!

Lilypad Lacquer Dragons Fly is a colour shifting glitter in a clear base and is a dead on dupe for the discontinued Ozotic 529. The glitter shifts from blue to pink to orange, it kept me entertained (distracted) the whole time I wore it.

Photos show 1 coat Ulta3 Black Satin, 2 coats Dragons Fly and 1 coat Poshe top coat.

Illamasqua Perseid and Fusion from the Creators Collection

Hey all!

I feel pretty lucky to be able to show you the following polishes! Long story short, my parents-in-law where over in the UK about to come home to Australia and asked if I wanted anything while they where still there, so I jumped on the chance to order the 2 polishes from the Creators collection and they brought them back home for me. They're the best!

However, there was one small mishap.. Perseid broke at some point during it's travels. Luckily the pieces of glass had held together and slowed the evaporation so when it reached me it was a thick goopy mess, but a goopy mess I was able to save! I scraped as much as I could off the broken bits of glass and into a shot glass that I then thinned out with nail polish thinners, emptied out and cleaned a spare of Illamasqua Harsh I had (into another misc bottle), poured it into the new Illamasqua bottle (flicking it all over my face in the process) and replaced the label. Done! I was so happy I was able to save it. However, I will never know how the polish would of originally looked as the amount of thinners I added it has undoubtedly changed it. Looks amazing in the bottle though!

Saving broken nail polish Illamasqua

Let's get onto it shall we! Fusion is an interesting antiqued bronze colour with a bronze silver glitter and a scattering of copper caramel glitter. This one applied beautifully in the standard 2 coats that you expect from Illamasqua. The polish was nice and thin and easy to control.

Photos show 2 coats Fusion with 1 coat Poshe top coat.

Now for the one I was most excited for! Perseid is a purple based polish with a strong green shimmer, packed with holographic hex glitter and micro glitter with flat black hex glitter. Formula wise I cannot comment, and I do not know if the shimmer has been emphasized by the polish thinners. Most of the time the polish base looks black, but you see the purple peeking through over the top of the holo glitters that are close to the surface. The black glitters are a nice touch to as they sit above the green shimmer and add to the layered effect. It definitely looks like a galaxy on your nails.

Hey all!

Another Illamasqua post I know but I have put off posting this for long enough! I was lucky enough to be able to get my hands on Gothica, the limited edition Canada Bay exclusive nail polish with the help of the amazing Sarah over at Shatter Me Claire! This polish was released as a part of the Sacred Hour collection.

Illamasqua nail polish in Gothica limited edition Canada Bay exclusive swatch

Gothica is a beautiful eggplant purple with green shimmer. It looks a little darker than bottle colour and the shimmer is a little bit shy but it is still beautiful. I noticed when I was taking it off there was a tonne of shimmer in the polish, so next time I wear it I may try do the trick of quickly wiping it with acetone to remove some of the base colour to allow more of the shimmer to show through. I will update this post if I do it :P

Review: Illamasqua Destiny - Myer Australia Exclusive

Hey all!

I have a very special polish for you today, it is Illamasqua Destiny and it was created in celebration for Chinese New Year.

In celebration of Chinese New Year 2014, Myer will carry a worldwide exclusive Illamasqua Nail Varnish shade.

According to Chinese Astrology, 2014 is the year of the Wooden Horse. Inspired by the new life that leaves bring to a bare wooden bark in the spring, we have captured a fresh green leaf in our latest shade, Destiny.

Destiny encompasses the celebration of new beginnings, named to align with the belief that the Chinese Astrology Calender can be used to determine a person's fortune.

To mirror the imperfect, unpredictable nature of a leafy tree, Destiny fuses fine and hexagonal gold glitter particles in a glitter finish formula.

A bottle green wash punctuated with golden lime accents, not unlike the multi-tonal spectrum of a tree within the spring bloom.
~ Illamasqua.com

Illamasqua Destiny nail polish, Myer Australia exclusive for Chinese New Year swatch manicure

This polish is just stunning! I am a huge sucker for greens and this is definitely unique amongst my collection.

Formula wise, it is a little thick, but not so bad that it is difficult to use. The polish can be controlled very easily and goes where you want it. Perfect coverage in the Illamasqua standard of 2 coats. You could get away with one if you wanted, but I like the depth of 2.

Photos show 2 coats Destiny and 1 coat Poshe top coat.

Quick Life Update

Hey all!

Thought I should just give you all a heads up about my lack of presence around here and on IG of late! A few weeks ago I was made redundant from my photo lab job with absolutely no notice, luckily I was able to get a new job only 2 weeks later so I am now a Photographer's Assistant and Photo Retoucher for a studio in Sydney. New job means new hours and after 3 years of starting work at 10am (getting up at 8.30..ish) I am now back to 9am (waking at 7am) soooo understandably I am not coping well with such early starts, I am not a morning person :P

I do have some swatch and reviews I need to post, the Pretty Serious They Came From Beyond Space Part 2 texture collection, the MckFresh Ooo - Friends Adventure Time collection and a couple of Powder Perfect and Celestial Cosmetics polishes. Hopefully I can get my ish together and get them all swatched, edited and posted soon.

Until next time <3

Hey all!

Today saw the release of the new Adventure Time themed collection from Mckfresh Nail Attire, Ooo - Friends! The lovely Kate sent me all the polishes to swatch and here they are for your viewing pleasure!

Mckfresh Nail Attire, the Ooo - Friends Adventure Time collection!

First up is Punch Yo Buns inspired by Finn! A lovely off white crelly filled with multiple different glitters in greeb, blue, white and black. Perfectly opaque in 3 coats, topped with 1 coat Poshe.

I was so pleasantly surprised with this polish, it didn't give me lobster hands and I quite liked how it looked on me, which is remarkable as I have tried white polishes before and hated how they looked on me.

Next is Lady, obviously after Lady Rainicorn! This is such a perfect match for the character and the base reminds me of custard, yummy! Another lovely pastel yellow crelly with teeny tiny neon hex glitter in pink, blue, white, yellow and green. Again, lovely in 3 coats with 1 of Poshe and again surprised how much I liked this on me!

Next up is W.C.D.M.C or Whistling Choir Death Match Championship based of Princess Bubblegum. Omg, how much does this look like gumballs on your nails! Perfect!

3 amazing coats of this candy pink base containing tiny light pink, dark pink and white hexes with different sized pastel circle glitter. Again, loved how this looked on me. The shimmer is a lovely touch and gives the polish the appearance of a wet lolly.

Oh. My. Glob! Next is the amazing What The Lump?! based off the one and only Lumpy Space Princess! I feel like I am repeating myself here! Perfect in 3 coats, it is a lovely pastel purple crelly with gold stars, sparkly micro glitter, purple and black circle glitter and black hex glitter with a small amount of black bar glitter. I know, I know, bar glitter.. I had no troubles what so ever getting them to lie flat. Love this one so hard, such a flattering colour.

This one is a black jelly polish filled with red, silver and purple holo hexes with red, purple and teal micro glitter. Only 2 coats needed for this one, and no undies! This one sparkles like crazy, I put a video up on my IG so go check that our here.

Swatch and Review: Pretty Serious They Came From Beyond Space part II!

Hey all!

Another big post for you today, Kaz from Pretty Serious Cosmetics was kind enough to send me the entire collection of the recently released They Came From Beyond Space part II! What is unique about this collection is that they are all textures, something that we haven't seen from a boutique brand yet, and these where among my first texture polishes and I can say I am a convert!

This is a huge post so grab a drink, get comfy and look beyond the cut.

To minimise the amount of repetition and text in this post I will tell you the number of coats here, I used 2 coats for all polishes and 1 coat Poshe quick dry for the swatches with top coat. Let's get onto it!

Cosmic Comet, a gorgeous lavender. I love this colour, it definitely flatters my skin tone and I love how the polish deepens with top coat. This polish is a dupe for the Rimmel Moon Dust in Moon Walking and Face of Australia Masquerade.

Warp 11, a soft pale blue.

Deep Space Destroyer, a lovely minty green. Obviously a favourite of mine!

Menace From Mars, a deep firey red. A surprise favourite! I am not a fan of red polishes normally, but with top coat this polish really stands out. No chunky glitter to this one, just a red texture with shimmer.

Surfing Alien, a bright silver. Loved this one! I put a video of this up on IG, definitely worth checking out! The sparkle on this was out of control.

Starship Doom, a doomy gunmetal. No chunky glitter in this one either, and apparently there is a slight pink shift to this but I cannot see it in my bottle. Kristy over at The Polish Haven has managed to capture the pink.

Dimension X, a pale champagne gold. Another surprise favourite, gold normally looks terrible with my skin tone, but this one is cool enough to look very delicate.

Robot Monster, a dark silver. I loved the steampunk vibe this colour has, a wonderful and unique shade.

Phew! Made it! These beautiful polishes can be bought internationally directly from the Pretty Serious website for AU$9.95 \11ml bottle or as a complete set at a 10% discount.

Review: Powder Perfect Valentines Day Duo

Hey all!

A few weeks back I made my first polish purchase of the year and it was from Powder Perfect, a wonderful Aussie Indie line from Toowoomba in Queensland. The owner, Jacinta, kindly sent along her Valentines Day duo for review with my order.

Now, if you where reading my blog this time last year, you will know how much I am not a fan of V-day, so I was a little concerned that the polishes I was going to receive where going to be your typical V-day inspired polishes, but I had a quick look at the polishes online before I received them and was very presently surprised at what I saw! So let's get onto it!

First in the duo is the gorgeous Lovers Lost. A BLUE! How groundbreaking is this! Haha I was well impressed with the colour and the polish, a lovely slightly dusky but vibrant blue, very close to Illamasqua Force and perfectly opaque in 2 coats as shown, with 1 coat Ulta3 Clear top coat. This polish was actually made as the base colour for the next polish in the duo!

Jar of Hearts, WOW! There is so much going on in this polish, and I must say I was in love! I am not even going to try and describe what is in this one other than black and magenta hearts, a tonne of multiple types of holo glitter and a few others in pale blue and purple. I used 2 dabbed coats for this, but 1 would be sufficient and 1 thick coat of Poshe top coat. I put a video of this up on Instagram, so you need to go look and check it out.

Final verdict on these 2 polishes, colour me impressed! A Valentines Day duo that is outside the box, love.

Powder Perfect polish can be purchased from their website for $10 for a 12ml bottle. Be sure to follow them on Facebook to stay updated!

Hey all!

Today I have the first polish released from the Abandoned Mansions collection by Powder Perfect. Oh em gee, I am going to use the description directly from the website for this one!

Four Poster Bed is a deep jelly polish filled with matte purple, gold and caramel glitters, to name but a few! This is a dream polish for me! Plum base, packed with gorgeous purple and caramel glitter. Caramel glitter! Why does no one use it more! It is a favourite of mine, so beautiful.

Photos below are 2 coats, with 2 coats Poshe top coat. Check out the macro!

If this is how beautiful the first polish from this collection is, I cannot wait to see what the rest will be like!

Quickie Post: Rimmel Space Dust - Total Eclipse and Moonwalking

$

Hey all!

I'm just going to show you the photos for these as I have tried to write this post a few times and I keep failing.

Total Eclipse is a black based texture with green shimmer/glitter. In the bottle it shows a green/blue/purple duochrome shift, but it is only visable at extreme angles with top coat applied. Formula was good at 2 coats and only required 1 layer of top coat for a smooth gloss finish. I prefer this with topcoat.

Moonwalking is a light purple texture with small and chunky silver glitter. I love the colour on this, very soft. Application was a breeze at 2 coats, this one required 2 coats of top coat to smooth out (no photo). This is a 100% dupe for Pretty Serious Cosmic Comet, the post can be seen here.

Hey all!

A big post for you today! I have a review of the entire Magic Treats collection from Moonstone Nail Polish! This will be very picture heavy so pop down to Honeydukes and grab your favourite sweets!

The Magic Treats collection is based on the lollies that you would find in Honeydukes, the magical sweet shop found in Hogsmeade in the Harry Potter universe. The collection consists of 3 glitter toppers and 3 jelly/crelly shades.

The collection was released on [moonstonenailpolish.com] on the 24th February. It will be on sale from the 24/02/14 until the 03/03/14 with 20% off for purchases of the full collection and 10% off for the individual shades.
Moonstone Nail Polish Magic Treats collection based from Harry Potter
First up is Sugar Quill, an elegant glitter topper with white, iridescent and silver hex with holographic silver micro bars. Inspired by it's namesake, a delicate sugar-spun sweet made into the shape of a quill. I used 1 coat over Zoya Evvie.

Next we have Levitating Sherbet Balls, a glitter topper, is inspired by Fizzing Whizbees, sour sherbet balls that cause you to float a few inches above the ground! Levitating Sherbet Balls is bursting with neon pink, holographic silver, and white stars. It also has an assortment of pink, white, yellow, and iridescent hex with a scattering of pastel yellow dots and a pink/gold shifting glassfleck shimmer throughout. I used 1 coat over China Glaze Kiwi Cool-ada. I freaking LOVE this colour combo.

Now the crelly shades! My personal favourite ( I can't help it, it's green!), Acid Pop! Inspired by the lollipop that burns a hole in your tongue (sounds fun!), is a yellow-toned apple green crelly with neon green, neon yellow, and white hex with gold dots and a subtle yellow shimmer. I used 3 coats, but you could get away with 2 if you don't mind a tiny bit of visable nail line.

Inspired by Drooble's Best Blowing Gum, a magical bubblegum that produces bluebell coloured bubbles that refuse to pop for days. It has a bluebell crelly/creme base with a blue shimmer and is filled with large circles in holo silver and ocean blue, as well as some smaller dots, hex, and squares in an assortment of blue, aqua and iridescent glitter.3 coats here as well, but could get away with 2.

This popular wizarding treat is seemingly innocent jellybeans that can be pleasant (think strawberry milkshake or banana split!) and they can also be horrible (like dirt or tripe). They really do come in every flavour imaginable and this polish reflects that aspect in that it has 15 different coloured hex and circles! The base is a royal purple jelly with a soft gold shimmer throughout. 3 easy coats.

A couple of the polishes where a little thin but not difficult to work with. The crelly bases do require a couple of coats to build up the colour, but it is definitely worth it and you get a really nice depth to the glitter.

Review: Celestial Cosmetics - Highgarden and Elegantly Wasted

Hey all!

I have the first apperance of Celestial Cosmetics on my blog, yay! Nicki, the owner of Celestial was kind enough to send me a couple of her polishes so I chose Highgarden and she sent along Elegantly Wasted to keep it company.

First up we have Highgarden, a lime to teal green thermal with holographic particles. MY FIRST ONE! This was a super fun polish to play around with, but being warm in Australia it mainly stayed lime except when indoors and the tips went dark. Photos show 3 coats with 1 coat Poshe top coat. There was a little bit of visible nail line, but not enough to bother me, you could use a lime green base if you wanted.

Lastly, Elegantly Wasted, a lovely deep plum holo. This one had a slightly duskier base, unique in a collection. Purple holos will always steal my heart and this one was no exception, I should do a comparison post at some stage. Perfect in 2 coats with 1 coat Poshe.
